history

Selenesphere was formed in Moscow in June 2018 as a duo of thereminist/guitarist/beatmaker Frankie, and ex-guitarist of gothic rock band Necro Stellar, Anna. At that time 2 singles were recorded: 'Feccato Galassia', originally a song by grindcore band Kiss The Hobo; and 'Doomsday Party', Sybreed cover. An experiment of combining electronic beats, thall 8-string guitar sound, and theremin, was a success. At first Selenesphere was an instrumental project due to difficulties of finding a permanent singer. After major line-up changes, by the beginning of 2020, Selenesphere became a notable part of Moscow gothic scene. Along with live performances, Selenesphere recorded new music, both instrumentals and songs.

In February 2022, Russian invasion of Ukraine broke out. Frankie decided to leave Russia for good as a protest against Putin’s crimes. In March 2022, he left for Portugal. Officially, since then Selenesphere turned into Portuguese one man band. In fact, during most of 2022 and 2023 the project was on hold. Frankie was busy with financial survival, overcoming depression, and adaptation to a completely new life. By the summer of 2024, Selenesphere got back to life.

In the Fall of 2024, the album «Moscow Songs» was released. It contains 5 songs that were written and recorded in Moscow, and one completely new song, «Nightmarussia II». Julia Nem, ex-singer of Selenesphere, and now successful session vocalist, recorded all vocal parts, and wrote most of the lyrics. «Nightmarussia II» was named after «Nightmarussia 2015», the song of «Megilloth», a previous Frankie’s band. «Moscow Songs» comes with a remix of «Nightmarussia II», instrumental versions of the songs called «Moscow Voiceless», and single «In Front Of Enemies» which is early version of the song.

For now, Selenesphere is Frankie’s solo project based in Lisbon, Portugal. Feel free to subscribe, contact, and stay tuned!
